Mast arms progressingDrivers have noticed distinctive signs of progress taking place as crews ready to add new mast arms and traffic signals along Mountain Industrial Boulevard.

Orange cables poking up from the ground are an important part of the installation process. New fiber optic technology will be used to help better manage traffic flow.

The CID is working with the Georgia Department of Transportation and DeKalb County to add install LED (light emitting diode) lighted street signs on the mast arms once the project is complete.

 

Stone Mountain CID Security Patrol Vehicle and OfficerCID-funded security patrols helped to thwart a suspected copper thief and gave police the tools necessary to pursue those responsible.

Just before 2 a.m., an officer making routine checks of area businesses spotted a suspicious vehicle beside a fence with a large hole near a company on Litton Drive.

The officer alerted DeKalb County police to his findings. Officers found the unoccupied vehicle filled with copper tubing or rods. Police with a K-9 unit searched the area before impounding the car. Police later arrested one suspect and issued a warrant for another.
