Improvements are beginning at two key CID access points.
The CID is funding design and surveying for turning radius improvements at the intersections of Flintstone Drive and Hugh Howell Road, as well as North Royal Atlanta Drive and Highway 29. These projects will minimize the potential for trucks and other traffic to hit curbs and drainage structures during turns.
Tractor trailers now have a longer wheel base than those that traveled in the area decades ago. Modern trucks too frequently damage local road infrastructure, and sometimes their cargo, while entering or exiting these streets.
In addition, the North Royal Atlanta Drive work will include improvements to the monument-style business park sign to raise it and increase its lighting. DeKalb County is funding most of the construction cost for these projects through its Homestead Option Sales Tax (HOST).
